Birthday Green

So I was going to blog about something else today, but felt like my birthday post needed to be about something green. Soooo... guess what. I got my shoes AND my jewelry! Yayyyy!

Menbur Febo Platform Slingback

I found my shoes on both endless.com and amazon and ended up buying them off of amazon because there was a $20 off promotion, plus free shipping. When I got them they seemed kind of small, and I still may exchange them for a different size, not sure yet. They are just as bright in person, but totally awesome. I wore them to my dress fitting almost 2 weeks ago and all the people who work in the shop came in to take pics of my shoes! It was hilarious. I don't know what it is about people fussing over something you have like that that makes you love it even more, but it held true for these. Truth be told I was on the fence, but once everybody started squealing with joy and snapping shots of my shoes, I was sold on them. I love love love the hidden platform - it's going to be so comfy day-of! And what I wanted all along was a green peep toe pump with hidden platform - perfect!

Next up - jewelry: After the last post I was actually going to take some of your oh-so-rational advice of buying two pairs (lol). But then I clicked on this pair and in the "seller's other items" saw another pair that I loved even more!

I love, and I mean LOVE, tarnished gold looking jewelry, but I finally realized that I wanted a little more, I don't know, glam for my wedding. So I asked her if she could do them in silver and she said yes, she had antiqued silver she could use for it. Here they are in silver (I know, super high quality pic):

and here they are on my ears! The stone looks much greener in person, I promise.

THEN I had the genius idea of - "oh, maybe I should ask if she could make me a matching necklace instead of searching and hoping something I find matches the earrings!" Duh. Since her jewelry is handmade and not vintage, she obviously has all of the stones and should have them in a decent quantity. Makes sense, right? So that's what I did. I purchased the earrings to make sure I'd love them before ordering the necklace (because that would be a custom order) aaaand... I do! They're a little smaller than I expected, but nonetheless perfect. Love them! And they were only $15 (necklace will be $25)! Score. As soon as I get the necklace, I'll post pics. Hope you're not getting tired of seeing green jewelry :) I'm not even that worried about the necklace to be honest. If it doesn't turn out the way I want it, or it turns out it's too much (visually, not cost), then I can always just wear the earrings!

And this awesome vintage locket bracelet I bought :)

Glam Green Gems

Ok I think I need help. I found this awesome necklace/earring set a while back on Etsy, bought it, dismantled it, changed the beads around, and I love it. BUT, I don't think I love it for wedding jewelry. This is the necklace from the set I got (pre-dismantling):

I think what I'd love to get are some earrings kind of like what Angelina famously wore a few years ago (doesn't help that I already had a girl crush on her, she then had to go and wear fabulous green earrings as well).

So I currently have about 10 pairs of earrings in my Etsy cart... and I need help! Seriously. Help me? Please?? Here are my top contenders (click on the link under the picture if you want to see the other views on Etsy):

As you can see, I'm a fan of big green stones. Not a huge fan of emeralds so much, plus I'm more of a vintage-looking-jewelry kind of girl (bonus if it's actual vintage!). So which ones do you like? The last ones may actually match a necklace I own. Key word is MAY. Do I buy yet another pair of green earrings on the off chance that they match the necklace? I also feel like if I get one of these kinds of earrings, unless I find a matching necklace from the same seller, it's going to be extremely difficult to match the stone so I'd probably just be wearing earrings. Do I need a necklace? I know, it depends on the neckline of the dress... but I can't show you that because FH reads my blog (sometimes)! It's sweetheart-ish, if that helps, and I'm wearing my hair half up (unless it rains, then all the way up). Thoughts??

Green Bling

I'm looking for the perfect green bling to wear with my dress (in case you're wondering, the dress is not green!). My fiancé says, "You need jewelry for the wedding?" and then something to the effect of don't I have something already that I could wear. Silly boy... unless it's heirloom or something that's really special to you - odds are every bride is going to buy special jewelry for their special day! Anyhoo, it should come as no surprise that I want green earrings. I don't care if they're emerald or just green gems, but I found a picture in a magazine of a pair of gorgeous earrings and I am now on a mission to find them for a much more reasonable price elsewhere. My problem is in my head they're perfect, and I'm trying to match them exactly, which seemed easy enough because they are just the stone on an ear hook (or whatever you want to call it). There's nothing else to the earrings. Easy, right? Well, one of the things I loved about them so much were that they are BIG... or at least in my mind they're big, they weren't pictured on a person in the magazine, so I guess I don't really know that they're big. I just WANT them to be big! Don't these look so big and beautiful? But then I find out they're .75", not big!!

This is why Etsy will be the death of me: Do you have any idea how many items come up when you type in the search "Green Earrings"? 59,713. "Green Drop Earrings"? 3,757. "Green Gem Earrings"? 1,023. Sounds like I'm getting closer to what I want, right? Wrong. The problem is... I would consider them "drop" earrings, but a seller on Etsy may just title them "Green Earrings", which brings us back up to the 50,000+ earrings I have to dig through for my perfect pair! And by trying to trim down the search, I add "gem" to the search terms, but then I'm cutting out all the sellers who didn't add "gem" to their item listings. Another issue is that I keep getting caught up in the pictures and how pretty they are... and then I buy them... and then I get them and they're AWESOME, but either they're too small or too casual. It's a good thing I don't mind having extra green earrings on hand :) and luckily, for the most part, Etsy is really cheap.

These are two pairs that I've bought in my search, that I don't mind having because they're beautiful, but they are definitely too small!

And then there's this pair that I "favorited" for a while and were eventually sold. They're pretty close to what I want, but, again, too small.

Can't there just be a big, green, earring store that I can go to and find my perfect earrings at?? Ok fine, I'll admit it, I'm being a little picky. But I'm justifying that by telling myself I shouldn't settle. You shouldn't settle on a husband, shouldn't settle on a dress... so why settle on earrings? Just as important... right? Right?? Well, that's what I'm telling myself anyway :)
