Update: Wife Chop

So I haven't been home in a really long time. Like, longer than usual. I guess it's because I used to just decide randomly to go home, or I'd make a special trip to go home to get my hair cut, but now I have two schedules to consider!

Yes, I drive 2 hours to my mom's house to get my hair cut. I've had the same woman, Christine, cutting my hair since I was, I don't know, 13? It's not that I haven't seen my mom, it's just that I've been seeing her in Maryland, where my Grandude lives (for Thanksgiving and Christmas, natch). What's my point? Well, I pretty much get my hair cut like clockwork every 3 months, and if I don't, I can feel it. You know that feeling where you just want to rip out your hair because you need a haircut so bad? Yeah, that. I got my hair cut in NJ last in July, then got married in September, but for some reason when I went home at the beginning of October I just couldn't bring myself to chop it off yet. Big mistake! Just a couple weeks later I got that wanting to pull my hair out feeling. For once, I couldn't justify/find the time to drive 2 hours for a haircut. I finally ended up cheating on Christine (*gasp*) and went to a place near my house. I was so nervous! And also I had no idea of this woman's hair cutting ability, so all I let her do was a trim and a bit of a side bang (fringe for the Brits out there). Nonetheless, the wife chop got postponed. I am FINALLY going home this weekend while hubby heads to Pittsburgh to visit a friend. So I'm finally getting my slightly delayed wife chop! But now I've got a bit of a dilemma… I don't know what to get! I have a few options, and I need your help!

Do I do the wife chop I originally posted about, the Rachel?

Or do I go all Zooey Deschanel and get the full bangs? (side note: looooove her!)

I'm so torn - help me out here! Which one should I get? I dig the full bangs, they look so awesome on some people, but I haven't had real bangs (usually just side bangs) since, oh the 7th grade when I cut them myself and they ended up being amazingly short and I didn't know what a straight iron was yet?? So, half of me thinks I'm ready for bangs again... half of me is scared that I can't handle it!

  1. If you will take the time to do them everyday I say go for it! I am lazy in the mornings and never wanted to make time to do my bangs when I had them so I always looked ridiculous. You have wanted the "rachel" for awhile too though. Decisions, decisions...

  2. I vote for full bangs. They do take a little bit more time to style, but I think you can definitely pull it off. I'm one of those that does something different everytime, so remember, if you don't like them, they'll grow back soon enough! Then you can do the Rachel. :) GO FOR IT!

  3. I was wondering what happen to the wife chop. I agree with Mandy Richards. Do the bangs, then you can always go back to the Rachel. It's more of a drastic change, which I believe is the point of a wifechop, yes?

  4. I have a longer Rachel 'do, which softens my square jawline. Bangs make me look very boxy. I tend to think that it's really important to choose a hairstyle based on face shape.

Maybe it's just because I'm particularly sensitive about it.
